There will be no CABCB newsletter this weekend, as we will be entirely preoccupied with the Smart Energy Expo that is happening on Sunday. It’s at MLC Junior School (12 Park Road, Burwood) from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Entry is FREE

We have a stellar lineup of speakerspanellists and special guests, including our wonderful MC. We also have 20 exhibitors, both commercial and non-commercial, plus home energy consultants who can advise you on how to cut your energy bills.

In fantastic news, BYD and MG are both bringing cars which you can not only inspect and ride in, but also DRIVE. If you’ve never driven an EV before, now is your chance to do it, completely free. (There will, of course, be an experienced driver with you in the car, to show you how to handle the vehicle.) CABCB president Ken Enderby and his wefe did this at Everything Electric last February and went straight down to their local MG dealer that week and ordered an MG4 Essence. It was delivered four weeks later (sooner if they’d been prepared to accept one of the colours in stock). He says it’s one of the best decisions he’s ever made.

In additon to our four discussion panels, we also have short talks on a variety of topics, an induction cooking display by Asian Australians for Climate Solutions, E-bike test ridesactivities for the kids, plus students from Queenwood School who are displaying the ute they’ve refurbished and converted into an EV. There will be coffee and toasties for sale, as well as give-aways from the induction cooking display. And don’t forget the lucky door prizes!

The official opening is at 10:00am in the Daphne Line Hall on the top floor of the Junior School Building. The doors open to the public at 9:45am. Speakers at the opening include the two Federal and State MPs respectively representing the Burwood area – Sally Sitou and Jason Yat-Sen Li – plus Burwood Mayor Cr John Faker. The first discussion panel is at 10:35am.
